Last fall I started production on a personal doc following the prolific and talented artist, Tony Passero, whose work can be found all over the neighborhoods and parks of Chicago. Due to some delays and city bureaucracy, the doc had to be postponed and remains unfinished. But I pressed forward and cut a little teaser trailer for when it picks up again.

Some selects from a portrait shoot with fellow Chicago photographer, Susie Trcka. She was so gracious in spending some time in front of the camera with a few different setups, and we had a blast making images together.
A few images that I loved, but didn't make the final cut for my recent project on the Chicago Cyclocross State Championships. Enjoy!
New project! I went to document the Chicago Cross Cup series finale a few weeks ago and had an absolute blast at my first race. If you don't know what cyclocross is, you could say it's a road bike race that goes off-road, with a healthy dose of steeplechase thrown in.
Add to that the pure, vomit-inducing torture of slogging up and down a muddy/sandy course with the crowds playfully heckling you to ride faster, you can kind of get an idea of the craziness that is cyclocross.
There's also a healthy dose of drinking done by the riders in the slower, slightly less competitive races. And thankfully, the crowds take care of all your "hydration" needs!

I'm in the final round of edits for a personal project I shot last week at the Chicago Cross Cup Championships. In the meantime, some selects can be found on my Instagram. Below are some tight crops on faces in photos that didn't make the cut. Hope to have a final series out later this week!
Working on some slow motion tests for an upcoming doc series on athletes and their passion. This time my talent was the superb DJ Bennett, who's about to jet off to Australia to play some pro ball.
I didn't capture near enough footage in the time I had (that's why it's a test, right?), but thought I'd share a quick edit nonetheless. Enjoy!

This past Sunday, I had a wonderfully exhausting opportunity to DP a narrative music video for local Chicago punk band, The Coldies. I'll be posting the video & some BTS soon (when I return from a much needed vacation), but in the meantime, enjoy these frames from the opening scene!
Even though most of my commissioned work lately has been video, I've been itching to get back into the studio and work on some portraits. Something I've noticed that is lacking in my book has been female portraits, so I'm starting to line up some shoots to change that. This will hopefully be the first of many more to come.
