Behind the scenes from a shoot yesterday with Joe Wirtheim and his company Victory Gardens of Tomorrow for an upcoming feature in TheHorticult.com . I'll share the final selections in a couple days.
Updates from South Korea - Jeju Edition
I've added some photos from a recent trip to Jeju Island on my "Recent Work" tab, and I have a few more to share here as well. Big portfolio relaunch coming soon as I prepare to approach a few Korean magazines with proposals...more to come!

Haenyeo (해녀), which translates into "sea women", are an icon on Jeju Island. These women free-dive for sea urchins, abalone, octopi, and other seafood. They are renown for their strong wills, being able to hold their breath for up to two minutes diving to depths of 20 meters.
Bert Hauge - Bakken
Cattle rancher/gravel pit owner Bert Hauge standing in for a light test last February at his newly dug (since I visited last year) gravel pit in New Town, ND. Shot for my ongoing project on the people of the Bakken oil fields.

Big Sky - Montana
Archive cleaning today - found a snapshot to share. Reminded me of the lyrics to John Mayer's song 3x5:
"Today, the skies are painted colors of the cowboy cliche. And it's strange, how clouds that look like mountains in the sky are next to mountains anyway."

Uganda
Back in August/September, I went to Uganda for three weeks to document the work of the Uganda Orphans Fund. The UOF is a non-profit based out of Bozeman, MT doing work in eastern and northern parts of Uganda. Amazing people doing amazing things. I have a quick edit up now under my projects section, but that's going to get a MAJOR facelift when I'm finished editing the final selections. I missed so many keepers my first time through...
This one is of Mr. Odida, the school headmaster at the orphan village in Kamuli. Don't be fooled though, it's a rare moment that he doesn't have a smile on his face.
The Taco Stand - Chung Yon Mu "Youth Market" - Nambu Market, Jeonju
Celebrated Cinco de Mayo in true Korean fashion: by going to the only taco stand in Jeonju! Sacha, our ex-pat co-workers, and I visited a great little Mexican joint on the second floor of the Nambu Market, which is considered the "Youth Market". It was later explained to me that this special section of the market is a place for up-and-coming businesses with young owners. The set-up is just right for budding entrepreneurs to settle in and start a business, especially those who have less capital to open shop elsewhere. Also an excellent place for some photo shoots in the future, and maybe some mini-docs on local business owners...we shall see!
Perfect weather, good tacos, and good company - not much to complain about.
Trucking in the Bakken
In between my new job in Korea and having a blast in a new country, I've been chipping away at the edit from my most recent trip to the Bakken. This one is from my travels with truck driver Derek Cross of Dawg Hauling, for his midnight shift hauling water to a frack site. Probably some of the most fun I had the whole trip. Enjoy!
Trucker Derek Cross loads a hose onto his water truck at 3 AM after offloading water for a frack site.
SeaTac
Typical airport snapshot from our layover in SeaTac, waiting for plane to Korea to arrive.
Liberty Bowl - Big Sky, MT
Getting some snow time before shipping off to South Korea. Shot with iPhone from the backside in Liberty Bowl - gonna miss this mountain.
